Paintings and Artwork

I've been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I started selling artwork at age 11 because my parents refused to pay for a horse and I wasn't about to be told "No!" Today, I paint because I want to. If I were to be cliche, I'd call it passion. Maybe someone else would say it's only a break from motherhood. But whatever you call it, all I know is I always feel like something is missing when I'm not creating my art.

My style is in the process of development but as I get closer, I also get more self-critical. Even still, I'm in love with the process, even when I've wiped away yet another failed painting.

I don't know the future any more than anyone else, but my goals are to become excellent for the sake of excellence--even if I'm relatively unknown--and to validate the cause of beauty in an art world that celebrates ugliness.

I have been privileged enough to study with the great William Whitaker as well as being the "Artistic Accomplice" of my dear friend Mara Schasteen. Between collaboration with them, as well as studying the works of great Painters--both ancient and modern--I've learned that painting a myriad of subjects from life will ultimately make me the best Artist I can be. Indeed, the more I paint portraits of people, figures from life, Kansas and Utah landscapes En Plein Air (meaning painting outside), and horses, the more I'm falling in love with the way light reacts with life--no matter what the subject may be. With oil paints, I seem to have unlimited ways of exploring that life. This gives me a great sense of adventure.

Currently, I sell in Davis Gallery in Wyoming as well as private sales and commissions. Thanks for taking a peek.
