Check Up Results

The docs are keeping a close eye on me even though I'm not at the hospital (duh), and today's check up was interesting.

Apparently, two weeks ago, Heidi was in the 10th percentile for growth and today she was in the 5th percentile. That's a lot of ground to lose in 2 weeks. I'm not really worried since I didn't break 100 lbs myself until college--and according to current booster seat laws, I would have been riding around in one of those until I got my driver's license. But given the results, Heidi's poor growth means that they might have to induce me if she continues to lag. It also means getting off bed rest at 34 weeks is no longer an option.

Sigh. That's okay, though, because I had my doubts I would actually get off bed rest, anyway. It seemed a little too good to be true.

In addition, it does feel strangely like Heidi is really close to being born; so I probably would've stayed down voluntarily, anyway, just to eek out a few more days or weeks if possible.

Contractions continue to increase and last night they were getting painful enough to keep me awake. Then I had some other "signs" (we'll leave it at that for the innocent) that labor was close. So Dr. E decided to check me today while at my appointment and sure enough, I was further dilated (4 cm) and, obviously, still 100% effaced. Heidi was also camping out much lower than before and starting to put pressure on me.

At the very least, I hope we can wait until Friday night because that's when Matt will be back. Gratefully, he'll be in town all of next week, so with any luck, he will get to be here for the birth.

The good news is, since Procardia can contribute to restricted growth, I don't have to take that anymore. Even better, I'm far enough along that they will no longer use magnesium to stop labor. So--hallelujah--I'll be drug free for delivery!

Here's to just a little more baking . . .

I guess that means WWI museum is out. Bummer. Let that baby bake a little longer...

Induction...that sounds so weird after all you've been through to stay pregnant!

It sounds like it will all work out wonderfully, though (with the drugs, Matt being there, etc.), even if she does have to be in the NICU for a little while.

Keep up the good work!

We are due any day now. (The actual estimated due date is on the 12th.) Maybe our kids will share a birthday. I'm hoping for "not Saturday" since that is my birthday and I've heard from moms and kids who share birthdays to not aim for that since it ends up being not as fun for anyone as the years go by.

Happy baking!

I'm so proud of you! You are doing awesome and those stats (while have their place and do their good)cause a lot of undue worry as well. CAN YOU BELIEVE YOU MAY GET OUT OF THE NICU ENTIRELY??? That is crazy. My dr. said if I were to go into labor early, that after 34 weeks I could go on to Olathe Med instead of OP. And you're almost there! My initial thought when I went into the hospital was that I just wanted to deliver before you, knowing that would put you in such a safer place. And now look at you! Sophie is 5 weeks today and you are still preggy!

that was supposed to be when 'you' went into the hospital.
